Notes:
- Script Styles and Letterforms: The handwriting is in a cursive style typical of the early 19th century, with elongated loops and flourishes.
- Common Abbreviations and Contractions: “by laws” is used instead of “by-laws,” and “per” is likely abbreviated as “per” in the context of “nine dollars per month.”
- Preserve Exact Spelling: “Nisbet” is spelled as such, and “Griffin” is preserved as written.
- Uncertain Characters: “[?]” is used for the uncertain word in “one month at [?] dollars.”
- Corrections and Insertions: A correction is noted for the uncertain word in the sentence about the debt to John Griffin.
- Different Hands: The signatures at the bottom appear to be from two different hands, as indicated by the distinct styles of the names “James [illegible]” and “Amos Griffin.”
This transcription aims to capture the document’s content as accurately as possible, reflecting the original handwriting and any noted corrections.

- The phrase “accepting Daniel Foot” suggests a conditional acceptance or agreement involving Daniel Foot.
- The text “the by-laws providing they have heretofore been except that Teacher shall examine the quality of the wood and report accordingly” seems to be a correction or clarification, possibly indicating an exception to a previous by-law regarding the teacher’s responsibilities.
- The document appears to be written by a single hand, with no clear indication of multiple writers present.

Notes on the Transcription:
-
Script Styles and Letterforms: The transcription preserves the cursive and flowing style typical of 19th-century handwriting, including ligatures and extended tails on certain letters.
- Common Abbreviations and Contractions:
- “freholders” is likely an abbreviation for “freeholders.”
- “dist.” is used for “district.”
- “said” is written as “s[ai]d,” reflecting the era’s spelling conventions.
- “by-laws” is written as “by-laws,” consistent with the period’s usage.
-
Exact Spelling: The transcription retains the exact spelling as written, including archaic forms such as “freholders” and “by-laws.”
- Uncertain Characters:
- “[unclear]” is used to denote words or letters that are difficult to decipher due to poor handwriting or ink smudging.
- Corrections, Insertions, or Strikethroughs:
- There are no visible corrections, insertions, or strikethroughs in the main body of the text. However, the word “said” appears to have been written with a slight variation in the letter “a,” which might indicate a correction or emphasis.
- Different Hands:
- The document appears to be written by a single hand throughout. No distinct changes in handwriting style suggest the presence of multiple writers.
This transcription aims to provide a faithful representation of the original document, capturing its historical and linguistic nuances.

[correction: Not[e] that this Meeting be adjourned to the 3rd Tuesday of March next] (original has “Not[e] that this Meeting be adjourned to the 3rd Tuesday of March next” with “Not[e]” slightly altered or emphasized)
Note: The handwriting appears to be in a consistent cursive style typical of the early 19th century, with some letters showing characteristic flourishes and loops. The abbreviation “S.” for “School” is common in this era. The use of “M.” for “McDonald” and “Wm.” for “William” are also typical contractions of the time. The spelling of “Summer” as “Summer” and “bylaws” as “bylaws” is preserved as written, reflecting the archaic spelling conventions of the period. The signature “D. M. McDonald Clerk” is clearly written, and the name “Wm. Reel Moderator” is also distinct. The correction noted suggests a possible emphasis or alteration in the original document.
