CAS all the way.

First of all you don’t have to travel to Brooklyn or live there. The Manhattan campus is where everything happens.

Second, I personally really enjoy the CAS education of both liberal arts and Comp Sci, and Tandon isn’t really a polished curriculum yet. Poly/Tandon was only bought by NYU a few years ago.

I think one of the biggest things though is the culture at CAS compared to Tandon. No offense Tandon people, but everyone I met in my class over there was….interesting to say the least. Very awkward kind of people, and I thought I was a typical awkward CS major, LOL.

CAS is indeed a bit more theoretical education wise, but the professors are all very intelligent accomplished researchers. I definitely think it wouldn’t hurt you to transfer from Tandon to CAS; I’m a tutor for Data Structures here at CAS, and I’ve met plenty of people who just transferred from Tandon into CAS. I’d probably say their biggest issue is that Tandon starts you in C++ while CAS starts in Java, so sometimes Tandon students who transfer in after they take Intro to CS get a little thrown off having to learn a new language for DS. They all learned pretty quickly though.
