Tbh it always been like this and its pretty scummy. I feel like they do this due ot the epermit shit and people who decied to drop before anything starts.

In all honesty, I feel like the thing that should be mainly questioned is the final drop date. Like why is the last day to get a W is 2 days before the finals?

Systematically I guess you can make the argument “the student could take the midterms and see how good they do” but even then I feel like giving that much leway is just questionable.
