So Brooklyn College is part of CUNY, which is known for their big upward mobility and affordability. There are also other CUNYs like Hunter College/Queens College/City College etc

You should be prepared for a different experience compared to BC, compared to a more expensive private full-fledged university. At CUNY and BC you will really see how as a public university, there often isn’t much funding for a lot of classes unfournately, and some professors may not be as passionate. There usually isn’t any big campus parties you might see somewhere else or a big campus life, a lot of people have jobs outside of school

However at CUNY/Brooklyn College you get access to many programs, generally, free, that can help you get employement post graduation. Like https://ttp.nyc/cuny-programs or https://ttp.nyc/cuny-programs or https://www.cuny.edu/about/administration/offices/ocip/students/careerlaunch/. CUNY is generally good for lower income students, to give them the tools they need to succeed. As you mentioned tuition is low, and financial aid often means a lot of students attend free.

Nobody will brush you off just because they see CUNY/Brooklyn College, CUNY/BC is where a lot of students in the city do end up going. If you put in the effort while you’re here and make an effort to go to events and stuff, you can succeed as much as you would at any other expensive private university
