So this is how it goes. The reason people go to Ivy league schools is to network. The education means little to nothing. The Finance or Psychology they teach at Baruch and Queens College is the exact same Finance or Psychology they teach in Penn state and Stanford in terms of the curriculum.

If you want to start your own buisness or get a job with the big leagues like Microsoft or ABC, then sure look into the ivy leagues. If you just want a degree, stick to CUNY. Much MUCH cheaper and less stressful to transfer. Most of the kids in this sub are working class and just want a degree to get a good job. Not many people here are looking to be the next John D. Rockefeller or Michael Bloomberg so usually they stick with the CUNY system.

Of course all that being said I’m not trying to discourage you from going to any of these ivy league school. You’re free to go wherever you want. I’m just letting you know if you want to go to Yale or MIT because you feel the education is better or jobs are more likely to hire you if you go to a name brand school, that a big mistake. Most jobs barely care you have a degree (unless you want to go into Law or Medicine) they just want a person that knows the job. Jobs absolutely love a person that they don’t have to train and can just put them on the front line. A degree just shows a job you’re capable of dedicating yourself to something and you’re able to be disciplined enough for the workplace. So again doesn’t matter where you went to school, just have a degree.
