I mean, the vast majority of CUNY students are working class kids that are just looking to get a degree to get a job. Alot of us go to school then as soon as class ends we gotta go to work. It’s not that we don’t have pride (ok well maybe some kids don’t have pride bc they maybe in a school they don’t wanna be in) we just have other things to worry about. Alot of kids pay out of pocket for tuition, alot of kids come on education visas, alot of kids work, and go to school then need to juggle that and also pay rent. List goes on an on. We aren’t privileged like kids in Ivy Leagues or private colleges in the suburbs like Iona or Sarah Lawrence that our family can send us money every so often and we study what we’re interested for fun and have extra time for pride events or clubs vs studying what were good at in order to get a good paying career.
