Quality is subjective, so I think you should be fine if you choose XYZ school. I think you should be focusing on what your goals are, when you think of attending a program for a given school. I say BMCC only because I’m a alumni from there.

For a specific focus on horticulture, Kingsborough Community College (KCC) may be the better fit for you. KCC offers a range of gardening and urban farming-related initiatives, and they have a Community Farm and Garden that focuses on sustainable farming practices and offers volunteer and internship opportunities. Additionally, KCC’s hydroponics program is a great option if you’re interested in growing plants without soil, a key aspect of modern horticulture.

LaGuardia Community College offers more of a sustainable urban agriculture program, which overlaps with horticulture but also includes broader topics like agroecology and food systems.

Given your interest specifically in horticulture, KCC’s hands-on farm and garden programs would likely be a better match.

Also I like to add that, KCC also has Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP), and College Discovery (CD) program. CD program is basically Search for Education, Elevation, and Knowledge aka SEEK (ASAP is too). So you can also apply for that program. And then you go to 4 year college, you’ll likely be eligible to apply for SEEK after. Which is a good thing.

I don’t reccomend ASAP over CD, because most schools prefer CD or SEEK to be eligible for 4-year SEEK program. ASAP isn’t eligible from my experience, because they treat it differently despite functionality being the same/similar programs.
