Heard Columbia’s being sued for financial aid mismanagement and discrimination
Heard from a friend of a friend that Columbia is being sued in federal court for financial aid mismanagement and discrimination.
Apparently, a student had loans and a scholarship. The school apparently manually did something to her account and ended up making the student owe a crazy amount of money that the student technically didn’t owe. Well the student was trying to get their account fixed and someone in SFS did fix it…but someone in SFS unfixed it, dropped the student’s classes, and demanded a crazy amount of money. Then Columbia withdrew her…and put the wrong withdrawal date on the student’s transcript, which I guess is now falsifying an academic record.
Crazy thing is that the student walked for graduation and now the school won’t even let her finish her final semester to get her degree.
Lowkey, seems like Columbia deserves anything that comes their way and the student should come back to school. Just my opinion anyway.
