ADVISOR TOOK TOO LONGER TO RESPOND TO EMAILS

Hi guys,

I need to vent for a little. HONESTY I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY IT TAKES SO LONGER FOR ADVISOR TO RESPOND TO EMAILS????? I’VE BEEN HAVING A SCHEDULE CONFLICT SINCE FUCKING LATE MARCH!!!! I SENT A COUPLE EMAILS AS “friendly reminders”. I can understand the pandemic situation. But it should not take that long to respond. NATURALLY, I GET ANNOYED AND I EMAILED 3-5 EMAILS IN ONE BUSINESS DAY COS THE CLASSES THAT I NEED ARE CLOSED. HE FREAKING TURNT AROUND AND SAID HE ONLY RECEIVED SO AND SO EMALS FROM ME DURING LABOR DAYS AND NOTHING FROM THE OTHER ADVISOR XX. I spoke to this Director XX and she emailed me that she’ll let him know about my situation. HE EMAILED ME BACK AND STATed THAT I WAS BEING RUDE TO HIM! Then, I realized this is their game, I must play their games and so I sent him one email per week and see if he’ll respond. He did! But he only read half of it. Like WTF??? Can’t he just deal with me and finish it on the spot. It’s honestly not that hard. Now the tuition due July 15th, and I am low credits…Like WTFFF I go to CSI…I simply want to graduate…

Edited: My enrollment date was March 30, and I sent him an email on that date cos I cant enroll in certain classes. I proceeded to send him an email two weeks after and another email two weeks after. Then I stopped. During those times, the classes that I needed were no closed. He did not reply. The program director replied and she said she’ll let my advisor know about it. However, around late May and early June. When I finished my finals. I got annoyed and I sent my advisor, the Program Director, and CAAS an email about classes closed. I then sent more than one email to my advisor about the classes being closed because this email thing was NOT working. I was hoping if he could do phone calls. My previous school did that. The program director and he replied my emails were excessive, and aggressive during 6 business days. His email was being monitored and he explained that he never been monitor. The program director said that I had no patience. They are all working hard during this pandemic. How this has affected other students as well. My advisor then said my previous emails before May did not mention classes closed. Only the email from late May and early June mentioned it. My advisor did try to put me into the classes that I needed, but there are issues as stated below. He did not take any action until I emailed him excessively. I hope this did not confuse anyone.

Edited: Allow me to introduce myself. I am a transfer. This is my first time in CUNY. Originally, I was gonna transfer to a private school. But that school did not offer me a lot of scholarships. I wanted to save money since I have roughly $10K of student loans from my first school. I was naive. Anyway, my situation is that I emailed my advisor about my schedule starting March 30th because CSI classes are so freaking restricted. I needed my advisor’s permission to enroll in classes. This permission thingy was NEVER mentioned anywhere until my enrollment date. Normally, advisors would warn students about it. At least, that was what it was like in a previous school. Apparently, at CSI it’s normal for students to have a hard time getting into classes. Every faculty knows it. When I mention it to some of them would kinda “Shhh me” away, and give me glares. According to my advisor, some of the classes are restricted because they are reserved for seniors, etc. He told me that this school has trouble hiring professors and they are low with funds. The reason I transferred to CSI was that I want to get into the Medical Technology Program. GUESS WHAT? There was another problem. The director decided to make the program “formal and proper” and got it approved in the middle of the pandemic. In previous years, not a lot of students apply to it let alone know about this program. She shortened (like getting rid of) certain pre-requisites and extended more classes in the program. I did not know all of this until I emailed her several times (about my schedule conflict because my advisor did not reply to my emails. In CSI, I noticed that if a student cannot get one advisor to help him or her. She or he would go to someone else for help. That’s what I was doing) and putting the puzzles together. Before the pandemic, she told me in an email that she will not be accepting students for the year 2020. She did not mention any updates. I should ask her since this is CUNY. I should have taken the extra extra extra steps. So basically before I know about the update I was following the old Med-tech flow chart. I was emailing aimlessly to get into the classes that I thought needed before Late May. After I found out about the update I realized I needed two classes. One would think that’s the end. NOPE! By the time I found the update. Classes are full. This one class (let’s call Class A) out of two was closed. Luckily, I had the other class (let’s call B) already registered. Currently, I have 8 credits: Class B, and Class C. I did an internship on campus and I needed to take Class C the proceeding semester in order to get credit for it. Class C does not contribute anything to my financial aid cos it’s not in my major. So to TAP grant I only 4 credits for Fall 2020. Just today my advisor replied to my email from 6/26/202 about my credit shortage. He recommended two classes that are open rn for me to take. Guess what, there’s more! So, Class D needs a pre-reque and Class E has a time conflict with Class B. Since I am a transfer I took a lot of Bio classes before. I just have to chase this professor AGAIN to get my credit transfer over.

I can safely conclude that in CUNY one problem often leads to another. At this point, I’m giving CUNY one more shot and apply for MT program. If I get rejected I’ll transfer to the private school. I had an interview with that school before and the hospitality was MUCH better CUNY. I did not mean to make it this long. My situation was a bit complicated. Thank you guys for understanding my situation.
