Why doesn't CUNY or CUNY students believe in freedom of choice?

Why doesn’t CUNY or CUNY students believe in freedom of choice?

Disclaimer: this is not a discussion to talk about students who are pro-vaccine or not. This is simply a discussion to understand why students encourage CUNY’s wrongful authority despite how it effects the students. I am not anti-vaccine AT ALL and I even encourage it for those who want to get it. I also support those who choose not to get it as well.

Over the past couple weeks, I have been following the vaccine mandate that is pushing students to get vaccinated at the expense of their education. As I have been observing, keeping up with the news/petitions and so on, I’ve realized there are A LOT of students who are either condoning or assimilating to this mandate and I don’t know why. Feel free to answer any of the following questions:

  1. Why is it that some students don’t believe another student should have a right to chose whether or not they want to get vaccinated? Why do those same students think it is right for their education (and money) to be compromised because of it?
  2. Why is it that some students believe that unvaccinated people are such a major threat to everyone even though we’ve co-existed with such people in the past? Especially if they’re so confident in the capabilities of the vaccine.
  3. Why do you not support CUNY offering alternatives to make sure that ALL students are secure in their classes. Why is it one way or the highway?
  4. Why did you get vaccinated? Was it personal choice or because you didn’t want to jeopardize your future?
  5. Do you also support essential workers being fired from their jobs (nurses, law enforcement, teachers, etc.) because they chose not to get vaccinated? Do you have any worry that these fields being understaffed can negatively impact our society?

I’m not looking for trolls or wise-men. I want intellectual, honest answers from those who are open and respectful of different p.o.v’s (from both sides). Looking forward to conversing!
